Dear OSG Colleagues,

You should have received the email below regarding the upcoming 84th Otosclerosis Study Group Meeting. We're in the process of fixing the wild apricot software, which appears to have gone wild. Thank you for your patience, please notify me if you have run into an issue, and we will make the corrections on our end. As in the past, we have subsidized the banquet so that your cost will only be $75. Please register for the meeting and indicate how many individuals will be attending. The executive committee would like to encourage you and your fellows to submit a case study for our Doc's discussion.

Dear OSG Colleagues,
I am delighted to inform you that the venue for the 84th annual Otosclerosis Study Group meeting in Philadelphia has been finalized.  You can literally “Bank” on us having an exceptional scientific session and “Bankquet” from 6PM to 9PM, Saturday, September 10, 2022 under the leadership our current OSG president, George Wanna, M.D.  This year, Professor Marchioni will be flying in from Verona, Italy to give his presentation, entitled, “Primary and Revision Stapes Surgery: An Endoscopic Perspective”.  This will be followed by the OSG Doc’s Discussion video case competition.  I encourage any of the membership (including new members) or their fellows to participate. Remember, the presentations should be 5 minutes or less. A $100 Visa card will be awarded to the winner.
We will be holding our meeting at Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse at 1428 Chestnut Street in downtown Philadelphia. The restaurant was literally carved out of an historic bank space that was once First Pennsylvania Bank. The Bank was built in 1922. As you can see in the image below, the vault door is massive. Del Frisco’s is conveniently located in Center City at 15th and Chestnut in the historic Packard Grande Building. It is only .3 of a mile from the Philadelphia Downtown Marriott and only 0.1 of a mile from the Ritz-Carlton. Remember, Academy registration opens on May 16th. Sign up soon before the hotels in close proximity are sold out!

It is only because of our exhibitor support, that we have been able to procure both of the downstairs vault rooms and bar area exclusively for our event. Please make sure you thank the exhibitors for their continued support.  Also, this year we will be changing the agenda for our meeting.  Instead of having a break to visit the exhibitors between the scientific session and the banquet, we will meet with the exhibitors before the meeting and enjoy some fine wines and delicious hors d’oeuvres. We will then have our Business Meeting, followed by the Scientific Session and the OSG Doc’s Discussion competition. We will then adjourn for dinner, featuring a choice of filet mignon, Chilean sea bass, salmon, chicken, or vegetarian options, complemented with some fine wines.
If you know of otologic colleagues who are not members of the OSG, but should be, have them submit their application with two letters of recommendation from members of our organization. When they go to the application, click on “New Member” to complete their application.
Registration for the meeting will be sent out soon. Please register before the meeting to avoid a long line and a registration surcharge. Also, if you are interested in taking on a leadership role within this organization, please let me know, so no one is overlooked.
Lastly, I want to apologize to those members who have received repeat notifications to pay your dues.  Some members were having difficulty paying their dues, so we had to reset the Wild Apricot software. As a result, some of you, who had already paid, were invoiced again.  While the OSG always appreciates charitable donations, do not feel the need to pay twice.  Send me an email at mcelveen.us@gmail.com  if you have been billed twice, and we will take care of it on our end.
Again, thanks for all of your support and involvement in this renowned society.  I look forward to seeing everyone in Philadelphia.  Saturday, September 10th will be here before we know it.
All the best,
John
